2010 Raven Circle Journal

Hello Partipants of the 2010 Raven Circle Journal!

Our initial list of participants includes: Athena, Penny, Friend of Nigel, Nigel, Linn, Cathy and Kersten. We are certainly welcome to any additional artists, so if interested in ravens, raven lore and altered books, please join us.

I have started a thread on the message forum, Altered Gypsy. If you are not yet a member, feel free to join. Once your membership is approved, you'll be able to post. I hope to use this thread as a way to keep in touch and to add links to raven lore, images, books and ephemera that might come in handy through the creative process.

Please make your choices in journal and design cover, sign-in page(s) and add any initial page designs or ephemera before mailing out your book. Ideally each artist would complete at least two, two-page spreads somewhere in each book. This equals four single pages, but that is simply a minimum page guideline. Sometimes books speak to us and we're simply inspired to add more. :)

So my question to you is how soon would you like to get started? And how long would you like to hold on to each book - knowing that half of our group is overseas and that we'll need to allow for mailing time. There are also summer holidays to consider, so our "artline" should perhaps allow for this as well. My initial thought was to post on the sabbats: March 21, May 1, June 21, August 1, Septemer 21, October 31, December 21, February 2, but I'm open for ideas!

I look forward to hearing from you and starting out on this creative journey. Peace.

***One a small side trip - if anyone would be interested in participating in an round robin RAVEN altered book swap, post a note here. Am looking for a nice circle of artists who want to create art and books in honor of the mystical black bird himself. You may be state side or from across the oceans; emerging artist or artist of artists. You'd basically start your book (cover, sign in, spread or two) and mail on to the next artist on the list. This would be continued until your book flies home to you - full of raven art and lore and beauty. Depending on the number of books, we can certainly also work around summer holidays and such.
